Job summary

WSP Local Government in the South West invites applications for a Highways Engineer based in Exeter or Taunton. You will join a collaborative team delivering significant highways and infrastructure projects for Local Authorities across the region.

Working within a multi-disciplinary environment, you will develop highway designs, ensure compliance with standards, and support project managers with planning, pricing and technical input.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience in highway design.
• Experience in multidisciplinary highway design across project stages.
• Strong knowledge of road geometry, junction design, drainage, and traffic signing.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, OpenRoads, InfoDrainage and/or PDS.

Responsibilities

• Developing highway designs on multi-disciplinary projects through the project lifecycle.
• Ensuring designs meet programme, budget, standards and legal requirements.
• Supporting project managers with planning, pricing, and technical input.
• Preparing design documents, drawings, reports and submissions.
• Collaborating with clients, stakeholders and internal teams to deliver projects.
• Assisting site activities and monitoring contractor compliance when required.
