RGB Network in London is seeking a Highway / Infrastructure Design Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team. You will produce detailed highway and infrastructure designs, progressing schemes from preliminary concepts to construction-ready packages and submissions.

You will work on diverse projects that improve safety, sustainability and connectivity, with a flexible hybrid working model and a salary up to £60,000 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in highway and infrastructure design.

• Familiarity with highway approval processes (278/38) and related UK standards.

The Opportunity

A leading international engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Highway / Infrastructure Design Engineer to join its team in London. This role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse range of highway, infrastructure and active travel projects, contributing to the development of designs from preliminary stages through to detailed design and technical approval. You'll be part of a multidisciplinary engineering and transport planning team, working on projects that support safer, more sustainable and better-connected places. The position would suit an engineer looking to strengthen their technical experience while progressing within an established consultancy.

The Role

• Producing detailed designs for highway, active travel and infrastructure projects.


• Developing highway designs from preliminary design through to construction-ready packages.


• Preparing Section 278 and Section 38 highway approval submissions.


• Working with Section 104 and Section 106 water industry agreements and drainage requirements.


• Producing highway layouts and design models using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and associated software.


• Applying relevant design standards, including DMRB, Manual for Streets and LTN 1/20.


• Supporting drainage design, infrastructure coordination and drainage strategy development.


• Preparing and maintaining technical documentation, design reports and records of engineering decisions.


• Liaising with clients and colleagues across multidisciplinary teams.


• Ensuring designs meet project requirements, quality standards and agreed budgets and timescales.


• Contributing to active travel, sustainable transport and road-space improvement schemes.


• Supporting technical reviews and the ongoing development of engineering solutions.

About You

• Experience in highway and infrastructure design, ideally within a consultancy environment.


• Experience producing detailed designs for highways, active travel or associated infrastructure.


• Knowledge of Section 278 and Section 38 approval processes, with an awareness of Section 104 and Section 106 agreements.


• A good understanding of DMRB, Manual for Streets, LTN 1/20 and relevant UK design standards.


• Experience using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, with exposure to tools such as AVT, KeySign or KeyPost beneficial.


• An understanding of drainage design guidance and infrastructure coordination.


• The ability to manage your own workload and deliver high-quality outputs to agreed deadlines.


• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients and multidisciplinary colleagues.


• Membership of ICE, CIHT or an equivalent professional body, or an interest in working towards membership.
