Job summary

Matchtech Group is seeking a Highway/Infrastructure Design Engineer to join its growing Engineering Design team in the UK, with Manchester or London as potential locations. You will work on diverse highway, active travel and infrastructure projects from concept through to construction.

In this role you will deliver designs to standards such as DMRB and Standards, leveraging AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and collaborate with clients and authorities to meet deadlines and quality targets.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Membership of CIHT, ICE or a similar professional institution.
• Experience delivering highway and infrastructure design projects in the UK.
• Knowledge of Section 278 and Section 38 agreements.
• Understanding of DMRB, Manual for Streets and LTN 1/20.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

Highway / Infrastructure Design Engineer

Location: Manchester or London

Our client is looking to appoint a Highway / Infrastructure Design Engineer or Senior Highway / Infrastructure Design Engineer to join its growing Engineering Design team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of highway, active travel and infrastructure projects, supporting schemes from initial concept through to detailed design and construction.

Working within a multi-disciplinary transport and infrastructure team, you will play a key role in delivering innovative and sustainable engineering solutions across a broad range of sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop highway and infrastructure designs from concept stage through to detailed design.
• Prepare and coordinate Section 278 and Section 38 highway approval submissions.
• Undertake highway and active travel design in accordance with DMRB, Manual for Streets, LTN 1/20 and other relevant standards.
• Produce drainage strategies and infrastructure design solutions.
• Utilise AutoCAD, Civil 3D and associated design software to deliver technical outputs.
• Collaborate with clients, local authorities and internal stakeholders throughout project delivery.
• Contribute to technical documentation, reports and design submissions.
• Ensure projects are delivered to agreed timescales, budgets and quality standards.

Senior-Level Responsibilities

For candidates applying at Senior level, additional responsibilities will include:

• Leading the delivery of complex highway and infrastructure projects.
• Managing project programmes, resources and budgets.
• Mentoring and developing junior engineers.
• Providing technical leadership and quality assurance.
• Supporting business development activities and client relationship management.
• Driving innovation and continuous improvement within design processes.

Requirements

• Experience delivering highway and infrastructure design projects within the UK.
• Knowledge of Section 278 and Section 38 agreements.
• Understanding of relevant industry standards including DMRB, Manual for Streets and LTN 1/20.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
