Job summary
Cygnet Hospital Taunton is recruiting a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join a new 15-bed neuro-cognitive service for older adults with complex cognitive and neurological conditions. You will work on a specialist caseload assessing SCLN and EDS needs, delivering input per the SLT pathway, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
The role offers excellent supervision, CPD, and opportunities to contribute to service development within an established SLT network.
Qualifications
- Must hold a degree in Speech and Language Therapy with HCPC registration and RCSLT membership.
- Competency to independently assess and manage EDS needs.
- Experience with older adults, neurology or neurodegenerative conditions.
- Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support and person-centred planning.
Responsibilities
- Assess speech, language, communication and swallowing needs for a specialist caseload.
- Deliver input aligned with the SLT pathway for neuropsychiatric/neurodegenerative services.
- Work within an interdisciplinary on-site team and support workforce upskilling.
- Participate in CPD, supervision and large-scale SLT projects.
