Northumberland Church of England Academy Trust seeks a Higher Level Teaching Assistant for its Specialist Support Base in Ashington. The post supports students with SEMH, delivering targeted interventions and assisting curriculum delivery to nurture a safe, inclusive learning environment.
You will work closely with the SSB Teacher and Head of SSB, collaborating with families and external agencies to monitor progress and tailor support plans.
Salary: Band 5 £28,598 – £31,537 pro rata (actual £21,674 – £23,901)
Hours: 32.5 hours per week, term time plus 5 additional days
Contract: Permanent

Duke’s Secondary School is looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and caring Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our newly established Specialist Support Base (SSB).
Working within our specialist provision, you will support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with the SSB Teacher and Head of SSB, leading targeted interventions, supporting curriculum delivery and helping to create a positive, nurturing environment where students feel safe, valued and motivated to succeed.
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, experience of supporting young people with additional needs and the confidence to work collaboratively with families, colleagues and external agencies. You will be adaptable, proactive and committed to making a positive difference every day.
