Job summary

Byron Wood Academy in Sheffield is seeking a committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dedicated team. This is a permanent, term-time only role for 37 hours per week, with a salary of £25,907 – £27,665 (pro rata).

You will support teaching and learning, deliver high-quality activities, assist with planning, intervening where needed, monitor pupil progress, and contribute to a calm, inclusive learning environment. A suitable HLTA qualification or experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality learning activities to individuals, small groups, and whole classes in the absence of a teacher.
  • Support teachers in planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons.
  • Provide targeted intervention and support to pupils to improve outcomes.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a calm and purposeful learning environment.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, supporting enrichment activities where required.
