Job summary

Byron Wood Academy is seeking a committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join its dedicated team. This permanent post is 37 hours per week, term time only, with salary £25,907 - £27,665 (pro rata).

You will deliver high-quality learning activities, support planning and teaching, monitor pupil progress, and contribute to a calm, inclusive environment. The academy values safeguarding, inclusion, and strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Strong organisational abilities to manage whole-class activities.
  • Ability to lead learning confidently and adapt to pupil needs.
  • Good understanding of the primary curriculum and effective teaching strategies.
  • Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality learning activities to individuals, small groups, and whole classes in the absence of a teacher.
  • Support teachers in planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons.
  • Provide targeted intervention to pupils to improve outcomes.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress and give feedback to staff.
  • Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a calm learning environment.
  • Adapt activities to meet needs of all pupils, including SEND.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school and enrichment activities as required.
