Job summary

Woodlands School in Esher is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special needs at its satellite site. The role is part-time (33.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year) and permanent or fixed-term for 1 year.

You will work under the direction of the Class Teacher to deliver targeted interventions and promote inclusive learning. The successful candidate will hold a Level 2/3 teaching qualification, contribute to CPD, and demonstrate safeguarding commitment.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team under the direction of the responsible Teacher to support teaching provision and develop learning for pupils
  • Facilitate learning for individual pupils and groups, setting high expectations and promoting positive attitudes to learning
  • Prepare, plan and deliver specific intervention programmes, adjusting activities per pupil response and needs
  • Promote and support development of pupils’ social and emotional needs

Job title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant - Special Needs

Location: This role is based at Woodlands satellite site, Cranmere Primary School, Esher, Surrey with occasional travel across East Surrey and to Woodlands School (Leatherhead).

Hours: Part time, 33.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 39 weeks per year, term time only.

Contract: Part time. Permanent and fixed-term contracts of 1 year available

Key responsibilities include:
  • Working as part of a team, under the direction of the responsible Teacher, support teaching provision, development and implementation of learning for pupils
  • Under the guidance of the responsible Teacher, facilitate the learning of individual pupils and groups, setting high expectations and promoting positive attitudes to learning
  • Prepare, plan and deliver specific intervention programmes, adjusting activities according to pupil response and need
  • Promote and support the development of pupils’ social and emotional needs
Requirements include:
  • Ability to demonstrate an awareness, understanding and commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children
  • A minimum of a Level 2/3 qualification in a teaching and learning related discipline.
  • Ability to evidence effective continuous professional development
