Job summary

Supply Desk is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join an Additional Resourced Provision at a secondary school in New Forest. The role focuses on supporting students with SEND, including autism, 1:1 and small group support to access learning.

Work with teachers and families, adapt materials, promote independence, and manage progress. Requires Level 3 TA or HLTA status and an enhanced DBS; school offers professional development and supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification or HLTA experience.
• Experience supporting students with autism or additional needs.
• Strong understanding of autism, ADHD, and associated learning/behavioural needs.
• Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting young people.
• Excellent communication skills to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and confidentiality practices.
• Enhanced DBS check (support available if required).

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with autism and other additional needs.
• Assist small groups of students in accessing lessons and structured activities.
• Created trusting and respectful relationships with pupils and their families
• Be able to signpost families to additional support outside the school
• Adapt learning materials and approaches to meet individual needs.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and positive social interactions.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to implement personalised learning plans.
• Monitor progress and maintain accurate records.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all learners.

Contract: Long-Term (potentially permanent)

Institution: KS3/4 with a heavy SEND and pastoral focus

Pay: £88.50-£110 per day

About the Role

We are seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant with SEND experience to work with those with additional needs which may include escalated behaviour and avoidant learning within an Additional Resourced Provision in a Secondary School. This rewarding role involves supporting students with additional needs both 1:1 and in small group settings, helping them to access learning and achieve their full potential. The Additional Resourced Unit supports students to learn regulatory skills and access learning in a supportive environment in order to reintroduce them to the mainstream classrooms. This would be a great role for a previous teacher looking to take a step away from teaching.
