Job summary

Lift St Helen's is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our school in Barnsley. You will work with teachers to deliver an ambitious curriculum, lead small groups, and cover lessons as needed, helping pupils feel safe, valued and inspired to achieve their best.

The role requires a Level 4 HLTA qualification (or equivalent) and experience as a TA in a primary setting, including SEND interventions. We offer training and a supportive team committed to excellent education.

Are you ready to make a real difference in the lives of young people? We're looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join Lift St Helen's; part of Lift Schools, where every child receives an excellent education, in every classroom, every day.

About the role

In this HLTA role, you'll work closely with teachers across the school to support the delivery of an ambitious and engaging curriculum. Whether leading sessions, covering lessons, or guiding small groups, you'll help create a learning environment where every pupil feels safe, valued and inspired to achieve their best. Your work will play a vital part in giving children the confidence, skills and encouragement they need to thrive throughout their school journey.

Our HLTA’s will:
  • Plan and deliver small group interventions and cover whole-class sessions when required
  • Support with assessment and observations to inform planning
  • Encourage children's social and emotional development
  • Build strong relationships with families, supporting parental involvement
  • Line manage other TAs where appropriate
What we are looking for:
  • Level 4 Higher Level Teaching assistant qualified (or equivalent)
  • Experienced in Teaching Assistant role in a primary setting
  • SEND intervention skills and awareness
  • Motivated and passionate about supporting the youngest children within our schools to ensure the very best start in education for them.
  • UK right to work.

We value the skills and dedication of our teaching assistants. To support the best outcomes for our students, as a HLTA we require a level 4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent). If you don't yet hold this qualification but you do have the relevant experience and hold a level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, don't worry! We'll invest in your development by enrolling you in our Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Programme, helping you gain the behaviours, skills and experience you need to thrive in the role.
