Job summary

Hitachi ABB Power Grids in the United Kingdom offers a Field Service Apprentice starting October 2026, combining college study with on-site training to develop practical engineering skills.

You will work within the High Voltage Service team on projects involving HV products such as GCB, DTB, LTB, protection and control systems, and SF6 handling, gaining hands-on experience on customer sites.

Qualifications

• Engineering or technical studies at college, BTEC, T-Level, A-Level, or equivalent.
• Holding a full, valid driving licence.
• Interest in electrical systems or renewable energy with a readiness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, testing and commissioning at customer sites.
• Support Field Service Engineers during site activities on HV equipment.
• Learn commissioning procedures for HV control, protection, monitoring and measuring systems.
• Assist with fault finding, troubleshooting and rectification under supervision.
• Coordinate safely with customers, contractors and subcontractors during project execution.
• Prepare technical documentation, commissioning records, and site reports.
