Job summary

GM Performance Power Units is seeking an ESME Application Engineer to join the engineering team in Leeds. The role focuses on safely building high-performance battery systems and contributing to the design of the Energy Store and its main enclosure.

Responsibilities include leading manufacturing process design, safety analyses, and cross-functional collaboration with Quality and assembly teams to drive continual improvement and Built-In Quality in a high-performance environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
• 2+ years of relevant industry experience in battery pack assembly engineering.
• Experience programming industrial robots.
• Proficient in 3D CAD software (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or similar).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
• Self-driven with ability to lead projects independently.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and optimization of the manufacturing process of the Energy Store (ES) and Energy Store Main Enclosure (ESME).
• Design and analyze production processes to ensure personnel safety at all times.
• Work with Quality to develop in-process and end-of-line quality procedures for various assembly processes.
• Contribute to the design process to achieve Built-In Quality.
• Conduct root cause analysis and document learnings.
