Job summary

Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD is recruiting for an HGV/Van Technician in Purfleet, Essex. The role involves servicing, maintenance and repair of HGVs, trailers, and light commercial vehicles, with a 10-hour Monday–Friday shift pattern.

You will diagnose mechanical/electrical/hydraulic faults, perform inspections and prepare vehicles for MOT testing, while keeping accurate records and maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience as HGV/LCV technician or similar.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a workshop team.
• Class 1 licence would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs, trailers, and vans.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Complete vehicle inspections and prepare for MOT testing.
• Maintain a safe, tidy workspace and accurate service records.
• Provide breakdown support when required (rare).

HGV / Van Technician

Location: Purfleet, Essex

Salary: £20.00 per hour (Negotiable DOE)

Job Overview

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs, trailers, and light commercial vehicles
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
• Complete vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing
• Complete workshop documentation and service records accurately
• Maintain a safe and tidy working environment
• Provide breakdown support when required (rare occasions)

Requirements

• Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Technician, Van Technician, or LCV Technician
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Experience working on HGVs, trailers, or light commercial vehicles
• Ability to work independently and as part of a workshop team
• Class 1 (Category C+E) Licence would be advantageous

Salary & Benefits

• £20.00 per hour (negotiable depending on experience)
• Monday to Friday 10-hour shifts
• Overtime paid at time and a half
• Optional Saturday morning overtime
• Workshop-based role with rare breakdown call-outs
