Job summary

Bennett And Game Recruitment is seeking an HGV/Van Technician in Purfleet, Essex. You will service, repair, and inspect HGVs, trailers, and light commercial vehicles, diagnosing faults and ensuring readiness for MOT testing. A strong fault-finding ability and experience on heavy/light vehicles are essential.

Joining a workshop team, you can expect a long-term opportunity with overtime options and a structured weekday schedule. A Class 1 licence would be advantageous for progression.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an HGV/HGV mechanic or related role.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience on HGVs, trailers, or light commercial vehicles.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a workshop team.
• Class 1 Licence would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs, trailers, and light commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
• Complete vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing.
• Complete workshop documentation and service records accurately.
• Maintain a safe and tidy working environment.
• Provide breakdown support when required (rare occasions).

HGV / Van Technician

Location: Purfleet, Essex

Salary: £20.00 per hour (Negotiable DOE)

Job Overview

Requirements

• Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Technician, Van Technician, or LCV Technician
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Experience working on HGVs, trailers, or light commercial vehicles
• Ability to work independently and as part of a workshop team
• Class 1 (Category C+E) Licence would be advantageous

Salary & Benefits

• £20.00 per hour (negotiable depending on experience)
• Monday to Friday 10-hour shifts
• Overtime paid at time and a half
• Optional Saturday morning overtime
• Workshop-based role with rare breakdown call-outs
