Job summary

Ford & Slater Limited, one of the UK’s largest DAF Truck dealers, is seeking an HGV Technician for our Newark depot nightshift. Enjoy a competitive hourly rate, premium overtime, and in-house plus manufacturer training opportunities.

We look for experience as an HGV Technician/Mechanic, a relevant qualification or time‑served status, and a full UK driving licence. Duties include servicing, diagnostics, and repairs to trucks with safety as a priority.

Qualifications

• Experience as an HGV Technician/Mechanic within HGV, CV, LGV, PSV or related sector.
• Qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair is preferred or time‑served route.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of Trucks and Vehicles.
• Fault Diagnostics and MOT Preparation.
• Mechanical and Electrical repairs to manufacturer procedures and safety standards.
• Road test vehicle when required, subject to licence restrictions.

We currently have an exciting position as an HGV Technician in the fantastic team at our DAF Trucks Depot in Newark. As an HGV Technician on nightshift,we can offer you:

Who are we looking for:

• You will have previous experience working as an HGV Technician / Mechanic within the HGV, Commercial Vehicle, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant, Car or an associated sector.
• Ideally have a qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Or a time served HGV Technician.
• Ability to participate in breakdowns.
• Skills to follow company processes for completing all paperwork including accurate completion of job cards and service records.
• General level of computer literacy is advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence.

The HGV Technician role / responsibilities include (but not limited to):

Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of Trucks and Vehicles. Fault Diagnostics. MOT Preparation. Mechanical and Electrical repairs. Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer’s procedures and in a safe and responsible manner. Road test vehicle when required, subject to licence restrictions. Attend any technical or development training that is made available. Working Monday to Friday 9:15pm – 6:45am.
