Job summary

Slater Birtley is seeking an experienced HGV Technician for our Newark depot. You will service and repair a wide range of trucks, perform fault diagnostics, and prepare MOTs while following manufacturer procedures.

The role includes night shifts from 21:15 to 06:45 and opportunities for ongoing training and development. The package includes a competitive hourly rate dependent on experience, overtime at premium rates, extensive in-house and manufacturer training, driver training after qualifying,

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an HGV Technician/Mechanic in HGV, CV, LGV, PSV or related sectors.
• Possess a qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or be time served.
• Ability to participate in breakdowns and follow paperwork processes.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of trucks and vehicles.
• Diagnostics, MOT preparation, and mechanical/electrical repairs.
• Test drive when required and attend manufacturer training.
• Work Monday to Friday, night shift 21:15–06:45, with relevant licensing constraints.

We currently have an exciting position as an HGV Technician in the fantastic team at our DAF Trucks Depot in Newark. As an HGV Technician on nightshift,we can offer you:

Who are we looking for:

• You will have previous experience working as an HGV Technician / Mechanic within the HGV, Commercial Vehicle, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant, Car or an associated sector.
• Ideally have a qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Or a time served HGV Technician.
• Ability to participate in breakdowns.
• Skills to follow company processes for completing all paperwork including accurate completion of job cards and service records.
• General level of computer literacy is advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence.

The HGV Technician role / responsibilities include (but not limited to):

Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of Trucks and Vehicles. Fault Diagnostics. MOT Preparation. Mechanical and Electrical repairs. Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer’s procedures and in a safe and responsible manner. Road test vehicle when required, subject to licence restrictions. Attend any technical or development training that is made available. Working Monday to Friday 9:15pm – 6:45am.
