Job summary

Ford and Slater, a major UK DAF Truck dealer group, are recruiting for an HGV Technician at our Newark depot on night shift. The role offers competitive hourly pay, overtime at premium rates and significant in-house and manufacturer training to support career development.

Typical duties include servicing and maintaining trucks, diagnostics and repairs, MOT prep and attending technical training. Full UK driving licence required and ability to handle paperwork accurately.

Qualifications

• Experience as an HGV Technician / Mechanic in HGV, CV, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant or related sector.
• Ideally hold a qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Or be a time served HGV Technician.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of trucks and vehicles.
• Fault diagnostics and repairs.
• MOT preparation.
• Mechanical and electrical repairs.
• Road test vehicle when required.

We currently have an exciting position as an HGV Technician in the fantastic team at our DAF Trucks Depot in Newark. As an HGV Technician on nightshift,we can offer you:

Who are we looking for:

• You will have previous experience working as an HGV Technician / Mechanic within the HGV, Commercial Vehicle, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant, Car or an associated sector.
• Ideally have a qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Or a time served HGV Technician.
• Ability to participate in breakdowns.
• Skills to follow company processes for completing all paperwork including accurate completion of job cards and service records.
• General level of computer literacy is advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence.

The HGV Technician role / responsibilities include (but not limited to):

Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of Trucks and Vehicles. Fault Diagnostics. MOT Preparation. Mechanical and Electrical repairs. Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer’s procedures and in a safe and responsible manner. Road test vehicle when required, subject to licence restrictions. Attend any technical or development training that is made available. Working Monday to Friday 9:15pm – 6:45am.
