Job summary

Ford and Slater are recruiting an HGV Technician for night shift at our Birtley dealership. You will service and repair trucks, perform safety inspections, and diagnose faults to manufacturer standards.

The role offers in-house and manufacturer training, premium overtime rates, and benefits including pension and cycle-to-work schemes. You will work Tue-Fri nights and hold a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Qualified to Level 3 (C&G, NVQ or equivalent) in Commercial Vehicle Maintenance and repair.
• Experience as a Technician/Mechanic in HGV or CV sectors preferred.
• Comfort with manufacturer procedures and fault diagnosis.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of Trucks and Vehicles.
• Carry out safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOTs.
• Fault Diagnostics and repairs to manufacturer procedures.
• Road test vehicle when required, subject to licence restrictions.
• Complete paperwork and service records accurately.

We currently have a vacancies for anHGV Technicianworking on nightshift, at our fantastic Birtley Dealership.

As an HGV Technician,we can offer you:

• An hourly rate of £20 - 22 (depending on your HGV Technician experience).

Who are we looking for as an HGV Technician:

Ideally, you will have the following skills:

• Previous experience working as a Technician / Mechanic within the HGV, Commercial Vehicle, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant, Car or an associated sector.
• If you are a Light Commercial or Car Mechanic who would like to transfer your skills then we can offer you training to become an HGV Technician.
• Ideally have served a recognised apprenticeship or training programme. Qualified to Level 3 (C&G, NVQ or equivalent) in Commercial Vehicle Maintenance and repair.
• Excellent technical knowledge ensuring maintenance and repairs are carried out to manufacturer’s procedures.
• Sound knowledge to accurately diagnosis faults.
• Ability to carry out safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOT's.
• Participate in breakdowns as required.
• The skills to follow company processes for completing all paperwork including accurate completion of job cards and service records.
• General level of computer literacy is advantageous.
• Own tool kit.
• Full UK driving licence.

Nightshift working pattern: Tuesday to Friday, 19:00 – 07:00

The HGV Technician role / responsibilities include(but not limited to):

Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of Trucks and Vehicles. Carry out safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOT's. Fault Diagnostics. Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer’s procedures and in a safe and responsible manner. Road test vehicle when required, subject to licence restrictions.
