Job summary

Ford & Slater Limited, one of the largest DAF Truck dealers in the UK, is seeking an experienced HGV Technician for night shifts at their Stockton dealership. The role includes servicing and maintaining a variety of vehicles, carrying out safety inspections, and fault diagnostics.

Applicants should have a Level 3 qualification in Commercial Vehicle Maintenance and Repair and a full UK driving licence. The position offers competitive rates of pay, training opportunities, and benefits including holiday entitlement and a pension scheme.

Who are we looking for as an HGV Technician:

Ideally, you will have the following skills but training will be provided:

• Previous experience working as a Technician / Mechanic within the HGV, Commercial Vehicle, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant, Car or an associated sector.
• Ideally have served a recognised apprenticeship or training programme.
• Qualified to Level 3 (C&G, NVQ or equivalent) in Commercial Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Excellent technical knowledge ensuring maintenance and repairs are carried out to manufacturer’s procedures.
• Sound knowledge to accurately diagnosis faults.
• Carry safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOTs.
• Ability to participate in breakdowns.
• Skills to follow company processes for completing all paperwork including accurate completion of job cards and service records.
• General level of computer literacy is advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence.

Available Shifts

• Nightshift: Monday to Thursday / Tuesday to Friday (alternate weeks)

The HGV Technician role / responsibilities include (but not limited to):

Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of Trucks and Vehicles. Carry out safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOTs. Fault Diagnostics. Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer’s procedures and in a safe and responsible manner. Road test vehicle when required, subject to licence restrictions.
