Job summary

Ford and Slater, a major DAF Trucks dealer group, is recruiting an HGV Technician for its Newark depot night shift. The role involves servicing and repairing trucks, diagnostic work, MOT prep, and ensuring paperwork accuracy.

The position offers in-house and manufacturer training, overtime at premium rates, and a range of company benefits. Applicants should have HGV experience or a qualification/time‑served track in vehicle maintenance, UK driving licence, and be prepared to work nights in

Qualifications

• Experience as an HGV/Commercial Vehicle technician.

• Ability to participate in breakdowns.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining a wide range of Trucks and Vehicles.
• Fault diagnostics and MOT preparation.
• Mechanical and electrical repairs.
• Follow manufacturer procedures and complete job cards and service records.
• Road test vehicle as permitted by licence.

We currently have an exciting position as an HGV Technician in the fantastic team at our DAF Trucks Depot in Newark. As an HGV Technician on nightshift,we can offer you:

Who are we looking for:

• You will have previous experience working as an HGV Technician / Mechanic within the HGV, Commercial Vehicle, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant, Car or an associated sector.
• Ideally have a qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Or a time served HGV Technician.
• Ability to participate in breakdowns.
• Skills to follow company processes for completing all paperwork including accurate completion of job cards and service records.
• General level of computer literacy is advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence.

The HGV Technician role / responsibilities include (but not limited to):

Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of Trucks and Vehicles. Fault Diagnostics. MOT Preparation. Mechanical and Electrical repairs. Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer’s procedures and in a safe and responsible manner. Road test vehicle when required, subject to licence restrictions. Attend any technical or development training that is made available. Working Monday to Friday 9:15pm – 6:45am.
