Job summary

Ford and Slater, a leading DAF Truck dealer group in the North East, is seeking an HGV Technician for night shifts at the Birtley Dealership. The role offers an hourly rate of £20-£22, overtime, extensive training, and progression opportunities.

Ideal candidates will have Level 3 CV maintenance training, HGV experience, a full UK driving licence, and the ability to diagnose faults. Night shift is Tue-Fri, 19:00–07:00, at Birtley, DH3 2SP.

Qualifications

• Qualified to Level 3 in Commercial Vehicle Maintenance and repair.
• Experience as a Technician/Mechanic in HGV or related fields.
• Able to follow manufacturer procedures and diagnose faults.
• Full UK driving licence and own tool kit.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of Trucks and Vehicles.
• Carry out safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOTs.
• Fault diagnostics and repairs.
• Ensure repairs follow manufacturer procedures and are performed safely and responsibly.
• Road test vehicles when required, subject to licence restrictions.

We currently have a vacancies for anHGV Technicianworking on nightshift, at our fantastic Birtley Dealership.

Who are we looking for as an HGV Technician:

Ideally, you will have the following skills:

• Previous experience working as a Technician / Mechanic within the HGV, Commercial Vehicle, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant, Car or an associated sector.
• If you are a Light Commercial or Car Mechanic who would like to transfer your skills then we can offer you training to become an HGV Technician.
• Ideally have served a recognised apprenticeship or training programme. Qualified to Level 3 (C&G, NVQ or equivalent) in Commercial Vehicle Maintenance and repair.
• Excellent technical knowledge ensuring maintenance and repairs are carried out to manufacturer’s procedures.
• Sound knowledge to accurately diagnosis faults.
• Ability to carry out safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOT's.
• Participate in breakdowns as required.
• The skills to follow company processes for completing all paperwork including accurate completion of job cards and service records.
• General level of computer literacy is advantageous.
• Own tool kit.
• Full UK driving licence.

Nightshift working pattern: Tuesday to Friday, 19:00 – 07:00

The HGV Technician role / responsibilities include(but not limited to):

Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of Trucks and Vehicles. Carry out safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOT's. Fault Diagnostics. Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer’s procedures and in a safe and responsible manner. Road test vehicle when required, subject to licence restrictions.
