Job summary

Ford & Slater is seeking HGV Technicians to work the night shift at our Stockton dealership. We offer competitive rates based on experience and excellent training opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have experience as a Technician in the HGV or associated sectors and hold a Level 3 qualification in Commercial Vehicle Maintenance. Responsibilities include servicing vehicles and ensuring they meet safety standards. We provide a supportive work environment and attractive benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in HGV, Commercial Vehicle, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant, or car mechanics.
• Ability to carry out safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOTs.
• General computer literacy is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining various Trucks and Vehicles.
• Carrying out safety inspections and preparing vehicles for MOTs.
• Road testing vehicles when required.

Skills

Previous experience as a Technician / Mechanic

Qualified to Level 3 in Commercial Vehicle Maintenance

Excellent technical knowledge

Ability to participate in breakdowns

Full UK driving licence

Education

Level 3 (C&G, NVQ or equivalent) in Commercial Vehicle Maintenance and Repair

Who are we looking for as an HGV Technician:

Ideally, you will have the following skills but training will be provided:

• Previous experience working as a Technician / Mechanic within the HGV, Commercial Vehicle, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant, Car or an associated sector.
• Ideally have served a recognised apprenticeship or training programme.
• Qualified to Level 3 (C&G, NVQ or equivalent) in Commercial Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Excellent technical knowledge ensuring maintenance and repairs are carried out to manufacturer’s procedures.
• Sound knowledge to accurately diagnosis faults.
• Carry safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOTs.
• Ability to participate in breakdowns.
• Skills to follow company processes for completing all paperwork including accurate completion of job cards and service records.
• General level of computer literacy is advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence.

Available Shifts

• Nightshift: Monday to Thursday / Tuesday to Friday (alternate weeks)

The HGV Technician role / responsibilities include (but not limited to):

Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of Trucks and Vehicles. Carry out safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOTs. Fault Diagnostics. Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer’s procedures and in a safe and responsible manner. Road test vehicle when required, subject to licence restrictions.
