Job summary

Ford & Slater Newark is seeking HGV Technicians to work night shifts at their Stockton dealership. The role includes servicing trucks, carrying out safety inspections, and diagnosing faults, all while following manufacturers' procedures.

Applicants should have experience as a Technician/Mechanic, and a Level 3 qualification in Commercial Vehicle Maintenance, although training is provided. Employees are entitled to competitive rates, overtime, and excellent training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a Technician/Mechanic within the HGV or associated sector.
• Excellent technical knowledge ensuring maintenance and repairs are carried out to manufacturer’s procedures.
• Ability to participate in breakdowns.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of Trucks and Vehicles.
• Fault Diagnostics.
• Carry out safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOTs.

Skills

Who are we looking for as an HGV Technician:

Ideally, you will have the following skills but training will be provided:

• Previous experience working as a Technician / Mechanic within the HGV, Commercial Vehicle, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant, Car or an associated sector.
• Ideally have served a recognised apprenticeship or training programme.
• Qualified to Level 3 (C&G, NVQ or equivalent) in Commercial Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Excellent technical knowledge ensuring maintenance and repairs are carried out to manufacturer’s procedures.
• Sound knowledge to accurately diagnosis faults.
• Carry safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOTs.
• Ability to participate in breakdowns.
• Skills to follow company processes for completing all paperwork including accurate completion of job cards and service records.
• General level of computer literacy is advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence.

Available Shifts

• Nightshift: Monday to Thursday / Tuesday to Friday (alternate weeks)

The HGV Technician role / responsibilities include (but not limited to):

Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of Trucks and Vehicles. Carry out safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOTs. Fault Diagnostics. Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer’s procedures and in a safe and responsible manner. Road test vehicle when required, subject to licence restrictions.
