Job summary

Russell Taylor Group Ltd in Greater London is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to diagnose, service and repair a wide range of heavy goods vehicles in a busy workshop.

The role involves servicing, inspections, diagnostics and complex mechanical, electrical and electronic repairs. Working hours are 0600-1430 or 1330-2200 with a 30-minute break, alternating weekly, and overtime paid at time and a half.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
• Previous experience as an HGV Technician or similar.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and practical repair experience.
• Experience diagnosing electrical and electronic faults.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Health and safety in workshop environment.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Class 1 HGV licence advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service and maintain HGVs to a high standard.
• Carry out routine servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Perform mechanical, electrical and electronic fault diagnosis.
• Identify faults and carry out appropriate repairs.
• Work across a variety of commercial vehicle systems and components.
• Ensure vehicles meet safety, legal and compliance requirements.
• Complete accurate job cards and record work carried out.
• Record parts used and maintain workshop documentation.
• Collaborate with colleagues to minimise vehicle downtime.
• Provide clear technical information when required.
• Use workshop tools and diagnostic equipment safely.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Follow all health and safety procedures and workshop policies.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced HGV Technician to join a busy and well-established commercial vehicle workshop. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician who takes pride in delivering high-quality work and wants to be part of a professional, supportive workshop environment.

You will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing and maintaining a wide range of Heavy Goods Vehicles, ensuring they remain safe, reliable and fully compliant with legal and manufacturer standards.

The role will involve a mixture of routine servicing, inspections, diagnostics and more complex mechanical, electrical and electronic repairs.

Working Hours 0600 - 1430 or 1330 - 2200 with 30-min break , alternating each week - Overtime paid at Time and a Half

Key Responsibilities

• ·Diagnosing, repairing and maintaining HGVs to a high standard

What We're Looking For

• ·A recognised Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent
• ·Previous experience working as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Commercial Vehicle Technician
• ·Strong mechanical knowledge and practical repair experience
• ·Experience diagnosing electrical and electronic vehicle faults
• ·Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• ·A full UK driving licence
• ·A good understanding of health and safety within a workshop environment
• ·The ability to work independently as well as part of a wider workshop team
• ·A Class 1 HGV licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
