Job summary

Interaction Technical are recruiting an experienced HGV Technician to join their established workshop team in Kettering. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a predominantly Scania fleet, ensuring vehicles stay safe, reliable and compliant with legislation.

This full-time, permanent role offers a nights shift pattern (4 on 4 off), a competitive salary (£42,000–£50,000), overtime, company van and fuel card, training and clear progression opportunities within a modern workshop

Qualifications

• Experience as an HGV Technician or equivalent.
• Qualified to Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, inspections and maintenance on HGVs.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and pneumatic faults.

Interaction Technical are working in partnership with a leading commercial vehicle maintenance provider to recruit an experienced HGV Technician to join their established workshop team in Kettering as a Workshop HGV Technician.

The Role

As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a predominantly Scania fleet, ensuring vehicles remain safe, reliable and compliant with all relevant legislation.

Your duties will include:

• Carrying out planned servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical and pneumatic faults
• Completing repairs and maintenance in accordance with manufacturer standards
• Stripping, inspecting and rebuilding major components, including engines, gearboxes, differentials and braking systems
• Carrying out detailed vehicle testing and diagnostic fault-finding
• Completing safety inspections and preparing vehicles for MOT and DVSA requirements
• Accurately recording all maintenance and repair activities using workshop management systems
• Maintaining high standards of workmanship, productivity and efficiency
• Working closely with other technicians and workshop management to minimise vehicle downtime
• Following all company health & safety procedures and best engineering practices

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Commercial Vehicle Technician
• Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair qualification or equivalent
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Proven experience servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy commercial vehicles
• Experience stripping, inspecting and rebuilding vehicle components
• Good knowledge of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• A full UK driving licence – essential
• A positive attitude and willingness to continue learning and developing
• The ability to work independently as well as effectively within a busy workshop team
