Job summary

Auto Skills UK is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join a well-established team in Walthamstow. The role covers servicing, diagnostics and repairs for a commercial fleet.

You will work 4 on/4 off or 3 on/3 off rotating shifts (06:00-18:00) with overtime opportunities and a competitive package including a pension and staff benefits. A permanent, full-time position awaits the right candidate.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or an equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Commercial Vehicle Technician.
• Strong mechanical and diagnostic ability.
• Good knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair procedures.
• Full UK driving licence; HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out scheduled servicing and routine maintenance on HGVs.
• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults and completing effective repairs.
• Inspecting vehicles and identifying potential issues before they result in breakdowns.
• Carrying out preventative maintenance to maximise vehicle reliability.
• Preparing vehicles for MOT and other compliance inspections.
• Ensuring all work is completed in line with DVSA requirements and company standards.
• Maintaining accurate workshop records, job cards and service documentation.
• Working safely and following all relevant health and safety procedures.
• Supporting the wider workshop team to maintain fleet availability.
