Job summary

Auto Skills UK is looking for an experienced HGV Technician to join the day-shift team in Doncaster. You will inspect, service and repair HGVs and trailers to keep vehicles safe and compliant, on a 4-on, 4-off rota with hours 6:00am-6:00pm.

The role offers a £39,767 basic salary with OTE up to £50,000, with overtime at £28.50/hour and Sunday rates at £36.80/hour. Benefits include pension, life assurance, medical cover and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent, or proven HGV Technician experience.
• Full UK Driving Licence; Class 1 desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, inspection, maintenance and repair of HGVs and trailers.
• Mechanical, electrical, electronic and hydraulic fault finding.
• Diagnosing and repairing vehicle faults.
• Electrical repairs and component replacement.
• Welding and metalwork when required.
• Preparing vehicles for MOT/DVSA inspections.
• Completing job cards and maintenance records.
• Supporting apprentices and other workshop team members.
• Carrying out repairs and inspections on workshop equipment.

Location: Doncaster

Salary: £39,767 basic + OTE up to £50,000

Hours: 4 on, 4 off | 6:00am-6:00pm

Looking for Your Next HGV Technician Opportunity? We're recruiting for an experienced HGV Technician to join a well-established commercial vehicle maintenance operation in Doncaster. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified technician looking for a permanent day-shift position, with strong earning potential, overtime opportunities and ongoing technical development.

The Role

As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance and repair of HGVs and trailers, ensuring vehicles are safe, compliant and maintained to a high standard.

Duties will include

• Servicing, inspection, maintenance and repair of HGVs and trailers


• Mechanical, electrical, electronic and hydraulic fault finding


• Diagnosing and repairing vehicle faults


• Electrical repairs and component replacement


• Welding and metalwork when required


• Preparing vehicles for MOT/DVSA inspections


• Accurately completing job cards and maintenance records


• Supporting apprentices and other members of the workshop team


• Carrying out repairs and inspections on workshop equipment when required

About You

• NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent, or proven HGV Technician experience


• Previous HGV or commercial vehicle maintenance experience


• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills


• Good mechanical and electrical knowledge


• Ability to use hand and power tools confidently


• Full UK Driving Licence


• Class 1 licence desirable but not essential


• Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
