Job summary

Kemp Recruitment is seeking an experienced HGV Technician for a permanent, full-time role in Darlington. You will maintain a varied fleet of commercial vehicles, carrying out servicing, diagnostics and repairs to ensure roadworthiness.

The role offers a competitive salary between £40,000 and £55,000, Monday to Friday 7:30am–4:30pm, with 1 in 2 Saturdays 7:00am–12:00pm. Ideal candidates are time-served or formally qualified with strong technical skills and a safety-focused approach.

Qualifications

Salary: £40,000 – £55,000 per annum

1 in 2 Saturdays: 7:00am – 12:00pm

Are you an experienced HGV Technician looking for a stable role with a competitive salary and a varied workload? We are currently recruiting for an HGV Technician to join an independent commercial vehicle operation, working across a mixed fleet of HGVs and commercial vehicles.

About the HGV Technician Role

As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for keeping a varied fleet maintained, serviced and roadworthy to a high standard. Your duties will include:

• Carrying out routine servicing and preventative maintenance
• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
• Carrying out repairs and component replacement
• Preparing vehicles for MOT
• Completing inspections and identifying defects
• Working across a mixed fleet of commercial vehicles
• Carrying out general mechanical repairs and maintenance
• Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard

What We're Looking For

The successful HGV Technician will ideally have:

• Previous experience working as an HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic
• Time-served or formally qualified
• Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
• Experience working across a mixed commercial vehicle fleet
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
• A professional approach to vehicle maintenance and safety

Class 1 and IRTEC are not required for this position.
