Job summary

Tru Talent is looking for an experienced HGV Technician to join a busy commercial workshop in Northampton. The role offers a Monday–Friday day shift with no weekend work, supportive team, and opportunities to earn overtime on a 1.5x basis.

You will service, diagnose, and repair heavy goods vehicles, ensuring safety, reliability, and DVSA-compliant standards. A strong mechanical background and UK driving licence are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Technician, or Truck Technician.
• Experience working on heavy goods vehicles.
• Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance qualification (Desirable).
• HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence (Desirable).
• IRTEC accreditation (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and technical faults.
• Complete inspections, preventative maintenance, and defect repairs.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing in line with DVSA standards.
• Maintain accurate job cards and workshop documentation.
• Work safely and efficiently within a professional workshop environment.
• Ensure all repairs are completed to a high standard.
