Job summary

Kemp Recruitment is seeking an experienced HGV Technician in Cumbria to service, maintain and repair a large fleet of trucks and trailers. You will join an established workshop team and work on a mix of vehicles, ensuring high standards of safety and compliance.

The role offers a permanent, full-time position with a Monday–Friday schedule, occasional Saturdays, and competitive pay dependent on experience. Training and ongoing support are provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' mechanical experience in a similar role.
• Level 3 / City & Guilds / NVQ or equivalent qualification.
• Previous HGV / commercial vehicle experience.

Responsibilities

• HGV servicing, maintenance and repairs.
• MOT preparation and DVSA compliance.
• Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs.
• Working across a range of HGVs, trailers and ancillary equipment.
• Completing service sheets, job cards and defect reports.
• Ensuring vehicles are maintained to a high standard.
• Maintaining good workshop safety and housekeeping standards.

Location: Cumbria

Salary: up to £20 per hour

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am–5:30pm

Saturday: Every other Saturday, paid at time and a half

About the HGV Technician Role

As an HGV Technician, you will work alongside an experienced team carrying out the servicing, maintenance and repair of commercial vehicles and trailers.

Your responsibilities will include:

• HGV servicing, maintenance and repairs
• MOT preparation and DVSA compliance
• Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs
• Working across a range of HGVs, trailers and ancillary equipment
• Completing service sheets, job cards and defect reports
• Ensuring vehicles are maintained to a high standard
• Maintaining good workshop safety and housekeeping standards

What We're Looking For

The successful HGV Technician will ideally have:

• Minimum 5 years' mechanical experience in a similar role
• Level 3 / City & Guilds / NVQ qualification or equivalent experience
• Previous HGV / commercial vehicle experience
• HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence preferred
• Strong attention to detail
• Pride in the quality of your work
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
