Job summary

Holt-Recruitment in Taunton is seeking a skilled PSV / HGV Mechanic for a full-time, permanent position. You will work a 39-hour week with a late shift (2:00 PM – 10:00 PM) and receive a base hourly rate of £17.88 plus a daily shift payment of £20.36.

Qualifications

• NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or City & Guilds equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Open to PSV, HGV, Light Vehicle or ex-Forces backgrounds.
• Full UK driving licence; PCV licence desirable and funded.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, and repair vehicles and replace parts.
• Identify faults and specify repair methods.
• Conduct fleet inspections with handheld data devices.
• Attend occasional on-road breakdowns and recoveries.
• Road test vehicles to verify repairs.

PSV / HGV Mechanic

Location: Taunton

Position: Full-Time, Permanent

Hours: 39 hours per week (5 days over 7 | Late Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM)

Base Salary: £17.88 per hour

Shift Allowance: +£20.36 per day shift payment

Key Responsibilities of the HGV Technician / PSV Technician

• Diagnose, service, and carry out vehicle repairs and parts replacement.
• Identify vehicle faults and specify the correct repair methods.
• Conduct routine fleet inspections using modern handheld data capture devices.
• Attend occasional on-road vehicle breakdowns and recoveries.
• Complete vehicle road testing to verify successful remedial repairs.

What you’ll need as HGV Technician / PSV Technician

• NVQ / SVQ Level 3 (or City & Guilds equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Open to backgrounds in PSV, HGV, Light Vehicle (car/van), or ex-Forces engineering roles.
• Full UK driving licence (a PCV licence is highly desirable, but we will fund and help you achieve this).
• A flexible, multi-skilled approach to workshop tasks.
