Job summary

Venatu Consulting Ltd in Barnsley is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to service, maintain and repair a varied fleet of commercial vehicles and equipment. The role offers a Monday-to-Friday pattern with rotating shifts and occasional Saturdays, with overtime available at 1.5x.

You will work on HGV units, trailers and plant, performing planned maintenance, diagnosing faults and ensuring safety and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain, inspect and repair a varied fleet of commercial vehicles and equipment.
• Work on HGV units, trailers and plant.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on HGVs, trailers and plant.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults.
• Perform routine servicing and inspections.
• Complete repairs efficiently to a high standard.
• Carry out safety inspections and defect rectification.
• Document maintenance and inspections accurately.

Shift: Monday to Friday | Rotating shifts Monday to Friday – 7:00am – 3:30pm / Monday to Friday – 12:00pm – 8:30pm

The Role

• As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, inspection and repair of a varied fleet of commercial vehicles and equipment.
• You’ll have the opportunity to work across HGV units, trailers and plant
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on HGVs, trailers and plant
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults
• Carrying out routine servicing and inspections
• Completing repairs efficiently and to a high standard
• Carrying out safety inspections and defect rectification
• Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults
• Working on braking, suspension, steering and other vehicle systems
• Carrying out maintenance and repairs on a varied fleet of trailers and units
• Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with health and safety requirements
• Completing relevant maintenance and inspection documentation accurately

• Has previous experience working on HGVs, commercial vehicles, trailers or plant
• Has strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
