Job summary

Holt Recruitment Group is recruiting an experienced HGV Technician for a specialist commercial vehicle workshop in Bishops Stortford. You will service, diagnose and repair a range of HGVs, trailers and equipment in a well‑equipped workshop.

The role is a 40‑hour week, Monday to Friday 08:00–17:00 with Saturday mornings 08:00–12:00 overtime (1.25x). Salary ranges from £45,000 to £65,000 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an HGV Technician or equivalent in a commercial vehicle workshop.
• Strong mechanical and diagnostic ability with good knowledge of HGV systems.
• Ability to diagnose faults and work independently in a hands-on environment.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults and carrying out repairs.
• Working on braking, suspension, chassis and running gear, hydraulics and electrical systems.

HGV Technician

Are you an experienced HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Trailer Mechanic / Truck Mechanic looking for a role where no two days are quite the same? The role of the HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Trailer Mechanic / Truck Mechanic

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing HGVs and commercial vehicles
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults
• Working on braking systems, suspension, chassis and running gear
• Carrying out preventative maintenance and inspections
• Working on hydraulic systems, hoses, cylinders and valves
• Carrying out MOT preparation and associated repairs
• Working on trailers and specialist commercial vehicle equipment
• Supporting general engineering, fabrication and repair work where required
• Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard

What we’re looking for from the HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Trailer Mechanic / Truck Mechanic

• Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Commercial Vehicle Technician
• Strong mechanical and diagnostic ability
• Good knowledge of HGV systems and commercial vehicles
• Experience with hydraulics and/or electrical systems would be highly advantageous
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification preferred
• Able to diagnose faults and work independently
• A practical, hands‑on approach to engineering
• Good attention to detail and a strong work ethic
