Job summary

Interaction Technical is recruiting an HGV Technician to join a modern workshop team in the West Midlands. This permanent role offers a clear career path with ongoing manufacturer training and progression opportunities.

You will maintain and repair a Scania fleet, undertake servicing, diagnostics and repairs to high standards, and work from 07:00 to 16:00 with an attractive salary and overtime options in place.

Qualifications

• Experience as an HGV Technician or equivalent.
• Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair qualification or equivalent.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Experience servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy commercial vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical and pneumatic faults.
• Completing repairs and maintenance to manufacturer standards.
• Stripping, inspecting and rebuilding major components (engines, gearboxes, diffs, braking systems).
• Carrying out vehicle testing and diagnostic fault-finding.
• Preparing vehicles for MOT and DVSA requirements.
• Recording maintenance activities in workshop systems.

Salary: £42,0000-£50,000 + Overtime Available

Interaction Technical are working in partnership with a leading commercial vehicle maintenance provider to recruit an experienced HGV Technician to join their established workshop team in the West Midlands as a Mobile HGV Technician.

The Role

As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a predominantly Scania fleet, ensuring vehicles remain safe, reliable and compliant with all relevant legislation.

Your duties will include:

• Carrying out planned servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical and pneumatic faults
• Completing repairs and maintenance in accordance with manufacturer standards
• Stripping, inspecting and rebuilding major components, including engines, gearboxes, differentials and braking systems
• Carrying out detailed vehicle testing and diagnostic fault-finding
• Completing safety inspections and preparing vehicles for MOT and DVSA requirements
• Accurately recording all maintenance and repair activities using workshop management systems
• Maintaining high standards of workmanship, productivity and efficiency
• Working closely with other technicians and workshop management to minimise vehicle downtime
• Following all company health & safety procedures and best engineering practices

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Commercial Vehicle Technician – essential
• Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair qualification or equivalent – essential
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Proven experience servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy commercial vehicles
• Experience stripping, inspecting and rebuilding vehicle components
• Good knowledge of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• A full UK driving licence – essential
• A positive attitude and willingness to continue learning and developing
• The ability to work independently as well as effectively within a busy workshop team
