Fed up with being told “it's just a quick job\"?
We're looking for an experienced HGV Technician to join an independent commercial vehicle workshop in the Walton-on-Thames area.
This is a proper hands‑on role for someone who enjoys fixing trucks, solving problems and occasionally wondering why someone thought a particular component needed to be hidden in the most inaccessible place possible.
You’ll be joining a small team of three in a well‑equipped workshop, working predominantly on HGVs, with the occasional LCV and fleet car thrown into the mix.
You’ll be carrying out general repairs, servicing and maintenance across a varied HGV workload.
The workshop has two pits and all the equipment you’d expect, so you’ll have what you need to get the job done properly. You’ll need to bring your own hand tools, as any decent technician would probably refuse to leave home without them anyway.
The work is varied; the team is small and there’s plenty of opportunity for overtime if you fancy adding a few extra quid to the payslip.
And yes, there will probably be the occasional job where the customer says, “It’s only making a little noise.”
We all know how that one ends.
If you’re looking for a Monday-to-Friday HGV Technician role where you can get on with the job, work alongside a small team and avoid the usual corporate circus, this could be a good move.
You’ll be working on proper commercial vehicles, earning up to £53k before overtime, with the opportunity to increase that further if you want it.
There’ll be broken trucks, seized bolts, awkward access and the occasional job that makes you question your career choices.
But that’s HGV mechanics for you.
If you’re an experienced HGV Technician and you know your way around a truck, we’d like to hear from you.
