Job summary

Octane Recruitment Ltd is recruiting an experienced HGV Technician to join a modern commercial vehicle workshop in Felixstowe. You will service, repair and diagnose heavy goods vehicles, using state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and maintaining DVSA compliance.

The role offers multiple shift patterns with hourly rates up to £25.50, plus overtime. A Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair qualification is required, along with strong diagnostic skills and knowledge of operator regulations.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent).
• Previous experience as an HGV Technician, LGV Technician, Truck Technician or Heavy Vehicle Technician.
• Strong diagnostic, fault-finding and repair skills.
• Good knowledge of DVSA requirements, MOT testing standards and Operator Licence regulations.
• Experience using GDS and Impact diagnostic systems.
• Basic Microsoft Outlook skills.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair heavy goods vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.
• Identify defects during servicing and planned maintenance.
• Prepare accurate repair information, quotes and work orders.
• Complete workshop documentation, time recording and labour coding.
• Carry out effective shift handovers and prepare completed jobs for invoicing.
• Ensure all work meets workshop, safety and compliance standards.

Job description

We are recruiting for an experienced HGV Technician, Heavy Vehicle Technician, LGV Technician or Truck Technician to join a modern commercial vehicle workshop in Felixstowe. Applicants must have previous HGV maintenance and repair experience and hold a Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent). Strong diagnostic skills and knowledge of commercial vehicle regulations are essential.

Location: Felixstowe

Salary: Up to £25.50 per hour

Hours: Multiple Shift Patterns Available

Shift Options & SalaryLate Shift – 3:30pm to Midnight

• 40 hours per week
• Up to £25.50 per hour

Early Shift – 7:00am to 3:30pm

• Up to £20.50 per hour
• Overtime paid at £30.75 per hour

Rotating Shift – 7:00am to 3:30pm / 3:30pm to Midnight

• Up to £22.00 per hour
• Overtime paid at £33.00 per hour

Alternate Saturday mornings paid at time and a half.
