Job summary

AutoSkills in Ipswich is seeking a skilled HGV Technician for a full-time, permanent role. You’ll service, maintain and repair HGVs to high standards, with clear progression and structured training opportunities.

The role offers early shifts 06:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00 with rotating Saturdays and overtime rates. A UK driving licence is preferred, and extensive hands-on diagnosis is provided.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent.
• Previous HGV or heavy commercial vehicle experience.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Good mechanical and electrical knowledge.
• A proactive and professional approach.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A valid UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out HGV servicing, maintenance and repairs.
• Diagnosing and rectifying vehicle faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
• Performing safety inspections and MOT preparation.
• Carrying out routine preventative maintenance.
• Ensuring repairs are completed efficiently and safely.
• Working to required manufacturer and company standards.
• Completing relevant maintenance records and documentation.
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop.

The Role

As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing HGVs to a high standard.

Your duties will include:

• Carrying out HGV servicing, maintenance and repairs

About You

HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle Technician

• City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent
• Previous HGV or heavy commercial vehicle experience
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Good mechanical and electrical knowledge
• A proactive and professional approach
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team
• A valid UK driving licence

HGV licence is desirable but not essential.
