Job summary

Perfect Placement UK Ltd is seeking a skilled HGV Technician to join a reputable service centre in Erith. You will perform major and minor repairs on HGVs, trailers and other commercial vehicles in a well-equipped workshop.

The role offers an hourly rate up to £25 depending on experience, with overtime paid at time and a half. Regular early shift 08:00–16:30, plus every other Saturday on rota, and opportunities for career development within a busy workshop.

Qualifications

• NVQ/City & Guilds/IMI qualification in HGV repair is required or equivalent.
• Proven ability to diagnose and repair heavy vehicles to DVSA standards.
• Full UK driving licence for vehicle classes worked on.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out major and minor repairs on HGVs, trailers and other commercial vehicles.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance, including oil changes and tyre rotations.
• Maintain workshop inventory and keep a clean, safe working environment.
• Assist diagnosis and planning of repairs with colleagues.
• Keep detailed records of repairs and maintenance activities.
• Provide roadside emergency repair services as required.

Duties of the HGV Technician:

• - Carrying out major and minor repairs on HGVs, trailers, and other commercial vehicles
• - Performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance, including oil changes and tyre rotations
• - Maintaining workshop inventory and ensuring a safe, clean working environment
• - Assisting diagnosis and planning of repairs in collaboration with colleagues
• - Keeping detailed records of all repairs and maintenance activities
• - Providing roadside emergency repair services as required as the HGV Technician
• - Completing job paperwork and warranty claims accurately, escalating issues where necessary

Requirements of the HGV Technician:

• - Level 3 NVQ, City and Guilds, or IMI qualification in HGV Vehicle Repair and Maintenance
• - Ability to identify worn or faulty components in accordance with DVSA standards
• - Full UK driving licence relevant to the vehicle classes worked on
• - Proven experience in heavy vehicle repair, diagnostics, and troubleshooting
• - Strong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail
• - Ability to work efficiently within a team and maintain high service standards
