Job summary

Tru Talent in Exeter is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join a busy commercial workshop. You will service, diagnose and repair DVSA and manufacturer standards on a modern HGV fleet in a clean, well-equipped environment.

The role requires proven experience with HGVs and trailers, fault finding using Texa or Jaltest, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. A Class 2/C driving licence is preferred but not essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an HGV mechanic, HGV technician or HGV fitter.
• Strong knowledge of HGV and trailer systems, repairs and maintenance standards.
• Experience with diagnostic equipment (Texa or Jaltest) – training available.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine inspections, servicing and repairs to HGVs, LGVs and trailers.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and annual inspections to DVSA standards.
• Perform fault finding and Diagnostics using Texa and Jaltest diagnostic systems.
• Complete defect repairs to a high standard.
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation.

Week 2: Monday to Friday, 12:00 - 20:00 plus Saturday, 07:00 - 12:00

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter to join a busy commercial workshop in Exeter. This role offers a stable, strong hourly pay and the chance to work on a modern HGV fleet in a clean, well equipped environment. As an HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter, you’ll carry out high quality servicing, diagnostics and repairs to DVSA and manufacturer standards.

The requirements for the HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter role:

• Carry out routine inspections, servicing, and repairs to HGVs, LGVs, and trailers
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and annual inspections to DVSA standards
• Perform fault finding and diagnostics using Texa and Jaltest diagnostic systems
• Complete defect repairs to the highest standard
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation
• Work on a wide variety of heavy vehicle and trailer mechanical work

Experience and Qualifications needed for HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter:

• Proven experience as an HGV mechanic, HGV technician, HGV Fitter or commercial vehicle technician
• Strong knowledge of HGV and trailer systems, repairs, and maintenance standards
• Experience with diagnostic equipment (Texa, Jaltest, or similar) - training available
• Ability to perform routine inspections, servicing, MOT preparation, and fault finding
• Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team
• Class 2 / Cat C driving licence (preferred but not essential)
• City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent automotive qualification (advantageous)
