Job summary

Altera Recruitment Group is supporting an established infrastructure contractor in North West London in the appointment of an HGV Technician. The role will service and maintain the company’s own fleet on site, with a 50-hour week and 10-hour days, including a paid 1-hour break.

Salary is £20–£21 per hour (£52,000–£54,600 per year), with optional overtime taking earnings to £57,000 and above. The ideal candidate has workshop experience and a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Qualified HGV Technician or PSV ready to move across.
• Proven HGV repair and maintenance experience in a workshop.
• Confident with diagnostics, hydraulics and vehicle electrics.
• MOT preparation and PMI experience.
• Your own tools; specialist tools are supplied.
• Full UK driving licence.
• A Level 3 qualification, IRTEC or a C or C+E licence would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out PMIs, servicing and planned maintenance on the HGV fleet.
• Prepare and present vehicles for MOT.
• Diagnose and repair defects reported by drivers.
• Prepare new vehicles for service and take old ones off the fleet.
• Keep statutory maintenance records accurate and up to date.
• Repair other company equipment for variety.
• Occasional breakdown support to keep the fleet on the road.

HGV Technician

Altera Recruitment Group is supporting an established infrastructure contractor in North West London in the appointment of an HGV Technician. The pay is £20 to £21 an hour (£52,000 to £54,600), with optional Saturday overtime taking earnings to £57,000 and above.

The business is a well established contractor of several hundred people and runs its own mixed fleet of HGVs and vans. The fleet is growing, and the HGV Technician joins the in house workshop team, working on the company's own vehicles rather than a queue of customer jobs.

The role would suit an HGV Technician or HGV Mechanic from a dealer, fleet or independent workshop. PSV and bus technicians moving across to HGV are very welcome. The hours are 50 a week, Monday to Friday, as 10 hour days with a paid 1 hour break. The ideal is a split of earlies and lates, but earlies only or a core day shift will be considered.

Key Responsibilities of the HGV Technician

• Carrying out PMIs, servicing and planned maintenance on the HGV fleet.

Candidate Requirements
