Job summary

Veolia is seeking a HGV Technician in Totton (SO40 3SA) to maintain and repair our RCVs and light commercial vehicles in a busy workshop. The role requires diagnosing faults, ordering parts through the workshop manager, and maintaining safety and cleanliness standards.

The ideal candidate holds LGV/HGV Level 3, with relevant licences or comparable experience; a Class C licence is desirable. Veolia offers a £3,000 sign-on/retention bonus and an attractive benefits package.

• Experience with health and safety requirements in vehicle maintenance.
• Ability to diagnose faults and service vehicles in a workshop.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on all RCVs waste management and light commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose and rectify faults within a well-equipped workshop.
• Ensure correct parts are obtained and used via Workshop manager.
• Complete job cards and service sheets promptly.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and current product knowledge; attend training.

Salary: £39,520 plus Veolia benefits

Hours: 40 Hours per week Monday-Friday

Location: Totton SO40 3SA

What will you be doing?

• Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on all RCV's waste management and light commercial vehicle`s
• Diagnose and rectify all types of faults within a well-equipped workshop
• Ensure all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that all precautions are taken whilst on the premises
• Liaise with the Workshop manager to attain correct parts
• Ensure health & safety regulations and safe working practices are adhered to
• Ensure all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner
• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness
• Maintain a thorough and current product knowledge and attend training courses

What are we looking for?

• Flexibility to undertake a wide range of tasks
• High level of technical knowledge and ability in mechanical repair
• Awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements
• LGV Level 3/ HGV Level 3 in heavy vehicle mechanics, Maintenance & Repair or Equivalent
• Class C Licence - Desirable but not essential (opportunities for training)
• Thorough Knowledge of current HGV MOT regulations and standards
• IRTEC Licence and/or Waste/RCV vehicle experience would be desirable
