Job summary

Fox Resourcing and Recruitment Limited in Corby is seeking an experienced HGV Technician or skilled General Mechanic to join their busy workshop. The successful candidate will service, diagnose faults, and repair a range of commercial vehicles, with routine paperwork and occasional roadside breakdowns; overtime is available and valued.

The ideal candidate holds NVQ Level 3 in HGV maintenance, a full driving licence, strong timekeeping and a methodical approach.

Salary: £19.00 per hour + Overtime Opportunities

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: 52.5 hours per week (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday)

About the Role

This is a hands-on role in a busy, well-equipped workshop. Working on a wide variety of commercial vehicles, you’ll use your expertise to carry out inspections, diagnose faults, and keep our customers’ vehicles safe, roadworthy, and reliable.

Your day-to-day will include:

• Carrying out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs.
• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
• Performing vehicle inspections and accurately completing necessary paperwork.
• Attending roadside breakdowns when needed.
• Working safely and efficiently to meet agreed timescales.

Ideally, you will have:

• Qualifications/Experience: NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent experience) in HGV maintenance and repair. (We will also consider experienced light vehicle mechanics eager to transition to HGVs).
• Licence: A full, clean driving licence.
• Attributes: A methodical approach, excellent timekeeping, and flexibility for overtime.
• Compliance: Confidence following workshop processes and keeping paperwork accurate.

It’s a bonus if you have:

• A Commercial Class 1 or 2 driving licence (preferred but not essential).
• A Forklift licence.
• A First Aid certificate.
