Job summary

Metro Rod West Birmingham is hiring an experienced HGV Tanker Driver (HGV Class 2). The role covers planned maintenance and occasional emergency work with a FlexLine/CityFlex tanker in the drainage sector. You’ll join a growing team that values safety, reliability and customer service.

£34,500 base salary plus overtime and benefits. 8am–5pm, Monday to Friday, with on-site parking and pension options. Candidates should have at least 3 years tanker driving experience and hold a UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ tanker driving experience – essential.
• Experienced HGV Class 2 driver with drainage sector exposure preferred.
• Strong communication skills and IT literacy including smartphone use.
• Hold a full UK driving licence; HGV Class 2 licence required.
• Willing to work occasional/unsociable hours, weekends and nights.

Responsibilities

• Operate FlexLine/CityFlex tanker for planned maintenance and occasional emergency work.
• Carry out drainage cleaning, clearance, repair and maintenance tasks.
• Learn and apply drainage expertise with training and support available.

What’s involved?

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced tanker operator to develop specialist skills within the drainage industry.

Operating a FlexLine/CityFlex tanker, you’ll enjoy a varied, hands-on role carrying out planned maintenance and occasional emergency work, including drainage cleaning, clearance, repair and maintenance.

Drainage tanker or CityFlex experience would be a real advantage, but it isn’t essential. If you have solid experience operating other tanker vehicles and are keen to learn, we’ll provide the training and support you need to develop your drainage expertise.

The Person…

• An experienced HGV Driver Class 2 and with sector experience in drainage - preferable
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience driving a tanker - essential
• Strong communication skills
• IT Literacy including smart phone technology
• CSCS, HPWJ, Confined Spaces and associated cards (preferred)
• A positive, flexible, can-do attitude
• Want to be part of an exciting, growing, and progressive business with an increasingly formidable brand presence
• Be willing to work occasional/unsociable hours, weekends/nights
• Hold a full UK driving licence
• HGV Class 2 driving license
