Job summary

Metro Rod West Birmingham is seeking an experienced HGV Tanker Driver (Class 2) to join our drainage service team. You’ll operate FlexLine/CityFlex tankers, perform planned maintenance, and assist with occasional emergency calls.

The role requires a valid HGV Class 2 licence and tanker experience, with good safety awareness. Working hours are 8am–5pm, Monday to Friday, with overtime opportunities and a company pension.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ tanker driving experience.
• Experience with drainage or similar sectors is advantageous.
• Safety-conscious with good communication and IT literacy.

Responsibilities

• Operate FlexLine/CityFlex tanker for planned maintenance and emergencies.
• Carry out drainage cleaning, clearance, repair and maintenance.
• Maintain safety practices and provide high‑quality service.

8am – 5pm Monday to Friday

What’s involved?

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced tanker operator to develop specialist skills within the drainage industry.

Operating a FlexLine/CityFlex tanker, you’ll enjoy a varied, hands‑on role carrying out planned maintenance and occasional emergency work, including drainage cleaning, clearance, repair and maintenance.

Drainage tanker or CityFlex experience would be a real advantage, but it isn’t essential. If you have solid experience operating other tanker vehicles and are keen to learn, we’ll provide the training and support you need to develop your drainage expertise.

The Person…

• An experienced HGV Driver Class 2 and with sector experience in drainage – preferable
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience driving a tanker - essential
• Strong communication skills
• IT Literacy including smart phone technology
• CSCS, HPWJ, Confined Spaces and associated cards (preferred)
• A positive, flexible, can-do attitude

• Be willing to work occasional/unsociable hours, weekends/nights
• Hold a full UK driving licence
• HGV Class 2 driving license
• Team player
