Reed Boardall Group seeks an experienced HGV Fitter/Trailer Technician to service, maintain and repair our refrigerated trailer fleet. You will perform PMI inspections to DVSA standards and diagnose electrical, hydraulic, and refrigeration faults.

A full UK driving licence is required, with HGV CE a plus. The role offers a nights-based 4 on/4 off shift in a modern, well-equipped workshop with on-site parking and a strong focus on safety and accuracy with our fleet management system.

• Strong fault-finding skills across electrical and hydraulic trailer systems.

Responsabilités

• Maintain and repair routine servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on HGV trailers, focusing on refrigerated units.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated HGV Fitter / Trailer Technician to join our busy workshop team. While you will work across our fleet, this role has a strong focus on the service, inspection, maintenance, and repair of our modern fleet of temperature-controlled (refrigerated) trailers.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain & Repair: Carry out routine servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on HGV trailers, focusing heavily on refrigerated units
• Inspections: Conduct scheduled PMI (Periodic Maintenance Inspections) to DVSA standards.
• Fault Finding: Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and refrigeration system faults.
• MOT Prep: Prepare trailers for annual MOT testing to ensure a first-time pass rate.
• Compliance: Complete all job cards, service sheets, and maintenance records accurately using our digital fleet management system.

What We Are Looking For

• Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair is ideal, but experienced, time-served fitters are strongly encouraged to apply.
• Experience: Proven experience working as an HGV Fitter or Trailer Technician. Direct experience with transport refrigeration units.
• Skills: Strong fault-finding skills across electrical and hydraulic trailer systems.
• License: A full UK driving license is required. An HGV Class 1 (Category CE) license is a major plus but not essential.
• Mindset: A safety-first approach with the ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
