Job summary

TIP Group is hiring an HGV Trailer Mechanic in Sully, Vale of Glamorgan. You will inspect, service, maintain and repair a range of HGV trailers, with focus on safety, diagnostics, and roadworthiness.

Role requires experience as trailer or HGV mechanic, with HV 3 qualification or time-served experience and a safety-first mindset. Overtime available and generous bonuses included.

Qualifications

• Experience as trailer mechanic, HGV mechanic, fitter, or similar heavy vehicle role.
• IRTEC certification desirable or working towards.
• Heavy Vehicle Level 3 qualification, or time-served equivalent.
• Proactive safety-first mindset and pride in a job done properly.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine inspections, servicing and PMI checks on HGV trailers.
• Diagnose and repair faults across braking, suspension, electrical and bodywork systems.
• Ensure maintenance/work complies with DVSA standards and safety requirements.
• Record work accurately to maintain fleet history.
• Collaborate with the team to keep vehicles moving.

HGV Trailer Mechanic – Sully, Vale of Glamorgan

Full time: Monday–Thursday, 7:00am–5:00pm; Friday, 7:00am–4:30pm

Salary: £40,000 per annum

Overtime: Paid x1.5 - Potential earnings inc overtime £48,000 per annum

The Role

As an HGV Trailer Mechanic you’ll inspect, service, maintain and repair a range of HGV trailers. This will include carrying out routine maintenance and safety inspections, diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, completing repairs and replacing or adjusting components as required. You’ll also record work completed and ensure trailers are returned to a safe and roadworthy condition.

What you'll be doing:

• Routine inspections, servicing, and PMI checks on HGV trailers
• Diagnosing and repairing faults across braking, suspension, electrical, and bodywork systems
• Keeping maintenance and repair work to DVSA compliance standards
• Recording work accurately so the fleet's history stays on top of things
• Working closely with the wider team to keep vehicles moving
