Job summary
FedEx is seeking a fully skilled Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance Technician based at our Vehicle Maintenance Unit in Durham. You will service and maintain the company fleet to keep it safe, legal and reliable, following the planned maintenance schedules.
Working hours are 40 per week with a 17:00-01:30 shift, including premium rates for evening and night hours. FedEx offers extensive benefits and career opportunities.
Qualifications
- Fully skilled with LGV C&E license (class one).
- City & Guilds parts 1 & 2 or equivalent in CV repairs.
- Knowledge of automotive equipment and testing/troubleshooting.
- Ability to lift and manoeuvre heavy components.
- Welding and basic DC electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Must possess a valid driving license and prior relevant experience.
Responsibilities
- Complete service and inspection records.
- Prepare vehicles and trailers for annual MOT testing to ensure first-time pass.
- Perform ad-hoc vehicle repairs and rectify defects.
- Ensure safe use of all tools and equipment.
- Maintain clean and safe workshop standards.
- Carry out other duties as reasonably assigned by management.
