Job summary

Evri in York seeks a Class 1 HGV driver to join our premier parcel delivery operation. You will drive a Volvo lorry from a modern fleet, with shifts Monday to Friday, typically starting around 7:30am, delivering consignments across routes while enjoying a comfortable vehicle.

The role offers 9-hour shifts, 45 hours per week, with time to plan routes and be home after each shift. You should hold a Class 1 licence, Driver CPC, and DCPC hours completed or in progress, with strong knowledge of road

Qualifications

• Class 1 driving licence and CPC qualification required.
• Completed required DCPC training hours or be working towards them.
• Excellent knowledge of road transport laws and safety.

Responsibilities

• Drive a Volvo lorry from our fleet and follow shift schedules to be home after each 9-hour shift.
• Plan routes and ensure cages, pallets, freight reach customers on time.
• Inspect vehicle and trailer daily and complete defect reports; operate pallet trucks when needed.

What You'll Do:

You will drive a lorry from our exceptional fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old. They're a joy to drive, and are equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leather seats and many more optional extras to make sure you're comfortable.

Most of our sites run from Monday to Friday, with 45 hour working weeks, and 9-hour shifts per day which typically start at 7/8am. Our well-organised shift schedules mean you often know in advance where you'll be driving, taking the stress out of your day.

Key Role Responsibilities

We don't micromanage our drivers. We trust them to get the job done and plan their own routes. The average number of stops in a shift is 4 to 6, so there's plenty of time to enjoy being out on the open road - but you'll still be home again at the end of every 9-hour shift.

You'll make sure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages and Yorks get to and from customers bang on time. At some sites, the goods will be loaded or unloaded for you - at others, you'll need to do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks will sometimes be part of your day.

You'll be responsible for inspecting your vehicle and trailer every day and complete a Defect Report if necessary.
