Job summary

Evri is recruiting a Class 1 HGV Driver in Newcastle. You’ll operate a modern Volvo truck, part of a fleet under four years old, with a high-spec cabin for comfort. Shifts are 9 hours, 5 out of 7 days, totaling 45 hours weekly, typically starting around 5–6pm.

Daily duties include trunking to regional hubs on the night shift, routing without micromanagement, inspecting vehicles, and completing defect reports. Benefits highlighted include generous annual leave and clear career progression.

Qualifications

• Class 1 Driving licence is a minimum requirement.
• Driver CPC qualification card is required.
• Completed DCPC training hours or actively progressing toward them.
• Excellent knowledge of Road Transport Laws and safe driving practices.

Responsibilities

• Drive a lorry from our Volvo fleet to trusted regional hubs on the night shift.
• Plan routes and ensure timely trunking of cages, pallets, freight and stillages to customers.
• Inspect vehicle and trailer daily and complete a Defect Report if needed.
• Use scanning/checking procedures and manual tasks as required by site.

You will drive a lorry from our exceptional fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old.They’rea joy to drive, and are equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leatherseatsand many more optional extras to make sureyou’recomfortable.

Most of our sites run from Monday to Friday, with 45 hour working weeks, and9-hourshifts per day which typically start at5/6pm. Our well-organised shift schedules mean you often know in advance whereyou’llbe driving, taking the stress out of your day.

Key Role Responsibilities

Wedon’tmicromanage our drivers. We trust them to get the job done and plan their own routes.This job involves trunking to regional hubs on the night shift. So, if you like the independence of being out on the open road for long stretches - but also want to be home again at the end of every 9-hour shift, this is the job for you.

You’llmake sure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages and Yorks get to and from customers bang on time.At some sites, the goods will be loaded or unloaded for you - at others,you’llneed to do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks will sometimes be part of your day.

You’llbe responsible forinspecting your vehicle and trailer every day and complete a Defect Report if necessary.
