Job summary

The Recruitment Crowd (Yorkshire) Limited is recruiting on behalf of a well known client based in Newcastle for experienced HGV Class 1 drivers (C+E). Shifts are Monday to Friday with a 09:00 start. Pay is £15.28 per hour PAYE, rising to £16.36 after 12 weeks.

The role involves collections and deliveries to up to 20 stops, manual handling, loading and unloading, and clear communication with dispatch. Candidates must have a full UK licence, CPC, tachograph card and clean licence, plus WTD

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence with Class 1 entitlement (C+E).
• Minimum 12 months proven experience driving the relevant vehicle.
• Valid DCPC and Digital Tachograph card.

Responsibilities

• Collections and deliveries with up to 20 stops per shift.
• Assist with loading and unloading parcels at depots and customer locations.
• Coordinate with team to ensure timely collections and deliveries.
• Operate devices and company software to update delivery status and communicate with the depot.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and ensure roadworthiness.
• Adhere to traffic laws, regulations and company policies for safety.
• Communicate with dispatch and logistics teams to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.

Shifts: Monday to Friday

Hours : 09:00am start

Pay Rate: £15.28 per hour PAYE rising to £16.36 after 12 weeks

The role:

Collections and deliveries - up to 20 stops max.

Manual handling required as drivers will assist with loading and unloading parcels at depots and customers locations.

Collaborate with a team to ensure efficient operations and timely Collections / deliveries.

Operating devices and company software to update delivery status and to communicate with the depot.

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle, ensuring roadworthiness and compliance with company standards.

Adhere to all relevant traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to maintain a high level of safety on the road.

Effectively communicate with dispatch and logistics teams to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.

Requirements:

Full UK driving licence with Class 1 entitlement (category C+E).

Have at least 12 months of proven experience driving the relevant vehicle.

Valid and in date DCPC and Digital Tachograph card.

No more than 6 points on licence (minor offences only).

Full understanding of WTD legislation.

Excellent communication skills.
